Christmas & Return Address Labels

Christmas time is always a time for good food, families, festivals and gift giving. Just the other day I learned from my wife that Christmas is also a time of the year of sharing and expressing thoughts, emotions and more using greeting cards, Most everyone sends out the pretty Christmas greeting cards to their friends, family, clients, customer or business associates. I have always left this task to my wife to do, but this year I’d like to share a helpful tip this year being I got involved in the process.

My wife purchased the pretty greeting cards she choose to mail out this year. It was my job to write in them and place in enevlopes, stamp and put in mailbox. I thought there must be a simple way to do this more efficiently and save some time. So ok first thing I did was purchase two personalized rubber stamps. Each stamp allowed for four lines of text or characters, So I used on line 1. “Season Greetings” on line 2. I simply put “The Anthony Family” 3rd line “2010”

I specified the ink color of this self inking rubber stamp to be red (good Christmas color)

So 3 days later I received the ink stamps in the mail and used these stampers to stamp the inside of each greeting card, This saved me loads of time from hand writting in each one.

With the purchase of the rubber stamp, I also purchased some nice cute Christmas themed return address labels. These simply were printed with me and my wifes name and return address, just in case the receiver needed it to return mail us a greetign card.

So with the return address labels and self inking rubber stamps, I was able to help my wife with thsi years Christmas greeting cards, but achieved the task in a lot quicker manner than she has done previously year before year.

Christmas Recipes: Molasses Sugar Cookies

By: Karin Christian
“These are a wonderful chewy spice cookie. They are drop cookies that keep very well. I make them at the beginning of the holiday season and they keep all the way to New Year’s!”

Prep Time: 25 Min  Cook Time: 15 Min  Ready In: 3 Hrs 40 Min

Original Recipe Yield 6 dozen

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups shortening
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Melt the shortening in a large pan on the stove, and cool.
  2. Add sugar, eggs, and molasses, beat well.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients together and add to the pan. Mix well and chill 3 hours or overnight.
  4. Form into walnut-size balls. Roll in granulated sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 8-10 minutes.
  6. Store in an airtight container to keep from getting overly crisp. If they do lose their softness, an easy way to restore it is to place one slice of fresh bread in the container with the cookies for a couple of hours or overnight and they will be soft again!
