Christmas decorations are an important element of Christmas tradition. With the millions of Christmas decorations there are on the market today, the best way to find the prefect decorations is to decide how they would fit into your family’s Christmas traditions.
When our family purchases, or makes Christmas decorations, each piece has a specific meaning to the family, either to an individual of the family, or the family as a group.
For example, each family member has a specific Christmas tree ornament that is their special ornament and they have had it since they were small children. The ornament represents their own personality in some way. Such as if one child really loves carousels, their Christmas tree ornament may be a carousel horse. Maybe their special Christmas tree ornament would be something they made in grade school.
Each year the family gets together to decorate the tree, and inevitably the many ornaments that have been in the family for decades, bring up memories of Christmases past.
Our family also collects village houses, such as those sold by Department 56. Putting together the Christmas village is another family Christmas event. Christmas villages are a fantastic way to decorate your home for Christmas, but collecting the village pieces can be somewhat addictive.
Another way to have your Christmas decorations reflect your family traditions is to include ornaments that represent your family history, such as an ornament with a British Flag, if your family’s roots reside in that country, or maybe hunting and fishing themed decorations to represent grandpa’s favorite pastime, etc. You will certainly not want to forget to have one of those baby’s first Christmas ornaments for each child in the family.
Christmas decorations that represent your family’s traditions mean so much more, they will especially mean a lot during those Christmases that are still years into the future.

The Gift of Sports Apparel Will Help You Score Big This Christmas
Christmas is coming, and that means it’s time to start going through your written and mental Christmas lists to see who wants what for this holiday season. For girls, items like Polly Pocket, Barbie and all things Hannah Montana are a must. For the boys, legos, K’nex and character toys have never lost their appeal. But for the big boys and girls, and even the kids who are very much interested in sports, there’s only one thing to look for when it comes to picking out Christmas presents: sports apparel.
The great thing about sports apparel is that most apparel items are equal opportunity. There is no discrimination based on size, age or even gender. You’ll find articles of sports-related clothing that is perfect for newborn babies, just as you’ll find t-shirts and long-sleeved shirts that will be great for a child of school age. For adults, both men and women, sports apparel in the form of NFL jerseys or even NBA jerseys is always the perfect gift.
You know what else is great about sports apparel? It’s always available. You can shop for it any time of the year, at stores, online, even directly from stadiums and those sports teams that have fundraisers and run their own online websites and shops.
If you plan on shopping for sports apparel, keep the following tips in mind:
First, consider the person you are buying for. Know their preferred team! There’s no point in buying them NFL jerseys that depict the Philadelphia Eagles if their Pennsylvania team is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Also, know their size. If you’re unsure, guess, and buy a size large. It’s always better to go too big than too small. Kids will eventually grow into larger clothing sizes, and adults can wear layers, or just have a baggy shirt that is comfortable to lounge about in.
Second, try and shop in between seasons. Common sense dictates that if it’s the height of the football season, then you’re going to pay top dollar for any sports apparel related to football. In addition to shopping in between season, hit up the offline and online sale and clearance racks to see what kind of interesting finds there may be to have.
Third and finally, shop around. Don’t purchase sports apparel from the first company you come across. You may be able to find a better deal, or simply a better quality material, at another store or online website.
Last Minute Holiday Gifts for Christmas
Oh no. It’s happened again. The holidays are here, and you still haven’t picked out that perfect gift for your wife, your kids, or your friends at work. Don’t worry! Our last minute holiday gifts guide will help you find the perfect gift in no time at all.
Gifts for your spouse: Ask any mom what she really wants, and chances are she’ll ask for a day off. To give her that luxury, do a quick search for a local day spa in your area, and give your spouse a gift certificate and a promise to watch the kids while she relaxes. Or, if you are looking for something you can wrap in a small box, you can never go wrong with fine jewelry. Take a look at a local jeweler to find a last minute original piece.
Gifts for the kids: Kids do not need the latest fads to be happy. Try going to your local hobby shop or craft store and find a creative project that you can share with your children. Building a train set together gives the kids special time with their dad, as well as a sense of accomplishment that they won’t get from a DVD or video game.
Gifts for your colleagues: Forget holiday baskets and go for a single, luxurious item here that is appropriate for the holidays. A fine bottle of champagne, a nice silk scarf, etc. are gifts that your colleagues will truly appreciate.
Gifts hints: If you are short on time, websites such as redenvelope.com and amazon.com offer overnight shipping on unique gifts, toys, and apparel. The site gifts.com makes shopping a breeze by dividing gifts into categories based on the recipient’s personality. If you are shopping in stores at Christmas, avoid overcrowded malls filled with stress and the same gifts, and head to a few select boutiques instead. Most cities have at least a street or two filled with original, one-of-a-kind shops, and by choosing your gifts here, you will not only avoid the headaches of mall-shopping, but also find a true gem that will be appreciated and loved by the receiver.
You want people to appreciate the thought that goes into choosing the gift? Try custom holiday gifts. Custom holiday gifts make a lasting impact at Christmas because the receiver understands and appreciates the thought, the time and the effort that you have invested to ensure that your recipient is pleased with the gift.
